What Year is it? Children Sing to Obama? Not a Good Idea

September 30, 2008

This has to be a joke, right? Little children being manipulated into singing to politicians?  This has to be #1 in the old – “you are not helping” file.  Obama has been trying to appear as having more depth and substance than just a cool dude to support because everyone is like, into him, or something.

Wait, Al Gore did this to kids during his climate panic attack concert across the globe earlier this year. An example of guilt induced “change”:

Can Republican “Draw Play” Overcome a Community Organizer?

September 30, 2008

In football, a “draw play” suckers a speedy defense into thinking that the offense is running a pass play.  Just when it looks like the quarterback is going to look for a receiver, he quickly hands the ball off to a running back.  Now that the defense has dropped back into covering receivers, there is more room for the running back to move.

Was George W. Bush running a draw play when he addressed the nation on the severity of the banking crisis?

Probably not.  But the effect will be the same as if it was designed and planned that way.

I believe that he sincerely believes that there is a severe crisis and that the advice he was given about the best solution is what he proposed last week.

When the legislation failed in the House yesterday, the market tanked (they hate uncertainty) and the finger pointing began.

There are other ways to get cash to financial institutions that are hemorrhaging right now.  The government that changed accounting rules a few years ago could change some (or all) of them back so that balance sheets move closer to regulatory compliance.  They could reduce or eliminate federal corporate tax rates retroactively to the first of the year.  Fast action on rebating the money to corporations in dire need could be a difference-maker.  If the companies are still in bad shape, perhaps the normal bankruptcy options might be a better option for the economy in the long term (if coupled with real reductions in the size of government spending).

McCain is already proposing a reduction of the corporate income tax, perhaps he should ring his adviser and ask him if this should be his #1 stump speech item every day.

Now, back to the “rescue fiasco”

Once Bush made his plea to Congress, the Democratic leadership rushed to appear to be ahead of Republicans on legislation so that McCain couldn’t capitalize in any way.

The net effect will be potential disaster for Democrats.   Ask yourself why so many Democrats voted against the House bill.  The answer is obvious.  If their constituents are angry and don’t like the bill – it must die.

Democrats saw Bush’s solemn address and McCain’s campaign suspension and in an effort to make sure no one saw them as behind the curve, aggressively threw everything they had at getting an upper hand in the “solution” deal.

The problem was (and still is), no one in Washington really wants the public to know what precipitated the financial market difficulties.  Barak Obama definitely does not want you to know what helped this along.  They can try to change the subject and pander all they want.  The carnage generated by the truth could devastate his campaign.

Here is his desperate attempt to change the subject back to “Change”:

The Community Organizer (see “O’s Dangerous Pals“) himself led the charge to disregard banking regulations in the name of getting loans to those who would not normally qualify.  Intimidation, lawsuits and demagoguery by his associates at ACORN forced some banks to make bad loans even before the Washington politicians got into the act by making bad loans “policy”.  The 8 years of Bush policy had little to do with this problem and “Main Street” knows it.

Meanwhile, back in Middle America

McCain-Palin bumper stickers and yard signs are in short supply.  Buttons are being rationed.  The Obama campaign was counting on Republicans staying home to counter the percentage of Democrats who won’t vote for Obama because they are racist.  Incumbents are fearful that their fingerprints may be on the legislation that brought about the mess and don’t want to be seen as exacerbating the current mess with more of the same.

No Barak.  It is NOT about partisan bickering (you never bashed McCain when he suspended his campaign to go back to Washington – right?).  It IS about additional Socialism verses traditional Americanism.  In the end, our free markets will drive the optimal solution as long as we have less social experimenting and over regulation done in the name of the betterment of our society.

Quit pandering and offering b.s. solutions.  Play up your admission that some of your plans would have to be delayed due to the mess.

Unfortunately for you, that admission would prove that the “too big” government getting bigger is no solution.  It is the definition of “more of the same”  and in no way resembles the “change” that is needed.

Many said that this election year could resemble 1968.  I am too young to know first hand what that was like, but I think that this might look more like the election of 1994.

Special Report – The Press Won’t Report

September 29, 2008

From an anonymous source: Massive shortage of MCain-Palin yard signs and bumper stickers.  McCain-Palin buttons are being rationed.  Many are for sale because too many were being taken.

The Republican base is mobilized and they don’t like big government solutions.  Many of the latest poll results are influenced by too large a number of Democrats verses Republicans and Independents.  There is an undercurrent of hostility towards those in power now (Bush and members of the House and Senate) and it is reflected in the very low approval ratings for both (1/4 to 1/3 approve of Bush and only 13-23% approve of Congress).

Bush Rope-a-dope?

The current “rescue” as proposed by Bush was shot down after the Democrat leadership raced out to support it.  Since House Republicans are in opposition, does that mean that Democrats in Congress and Obama (also supprting it) would be a 3rd Bush term?

Change anyone?

Details tomorrow.

Bailouts, Rescues, & Regulations – All Lead to Regrets

September 29, 2008

The House failed to pass the sweeping legislation enacting a “rescue” of the financial markets today.   Speaker Nancy Pelosi failed to get her own party members to vote in lock step for this.  Democrats have the members and they don’t need Republicans to pass this, but the press will say that the Republicans are the reason it failed.

I am glad it failed.

It may hurt me personally (financially) in the short run.  It will be better for us all in the long run.  Americans will regret a vote for massive government interference down the road.  Just like a vote for more environmental protection has the people of Atlanta sitting in line waiting for gasoline and waterThe fools who commented on AC 360’s blog that the shortages were Bush’s fault have no clue.  How can W be at fault when no other area is suffering? Ask the regulators why they can’t just bring in gasoline from nearby locales.  Special blends of gas are not used anywhere near Atlanta so that gasoline isn’t allowed there.

The national media has run with the “Bailout” or “Rescue” story-line for weeks without really doing any investigative reporting on the causes.  If they had done any serious work on this, there would be little push to have the government (taxpayers) rescue the system.  They would push to roll back the idiot regulations that started the ball rolling years ago.

The polls may show Obama and Democrats winning, but people are outraged by the state of things.  They might regret the day they thought that “change” would be their best mantra.  It might be a shocker on the level of 1994 elections.

We don’t need to hit the reset button, we need to run the “restore” disks.  Check the Constitution and delete all laws and regulations since day one.  Then let’s start over with a new slate of elected officials.

It won’t happen but it is nice to dream.  Instead of real reform, we will be treated to politics as usual.  Instead of moving on (like Moveon.org likes to say) we will have a special prosecutor investigate the US Attorney firings.

The report, which focused heavily on the Iglesias firing, says U.S. attorneys can be removed for any reason or for no reason, but not for an improper reason.

I am no expert at logic, but aren’t improper reasons a part of the subset called “any reason”?

Not Helping (Part 2), Palin is Inexperienced, What is Biden’s Excuse?

September 29, 2008

From the “You Are Not Helping” File:

Chris Rock suggests that we should vote for the guy who only has one house because he might be afraid to lose it and hence, will make more prudent economic decisions as President.

We’ll Chris, I hate to break this to you but Barak Obama has no fear about losing his home.  Tony Rezko helped him out with the property.  The last think Obama wants is to have anyone remember that he got help from Rezko that may or may not have been illegal.

Please stop trying to help your guy.  It isn’t working.

Palin is inexperienced

Governor Palin agreed with a pipsqueak reporter on the subject of crossing the Pakistani border if we had Osama or some other terrorists in sight.  So she was a bit indelicate with the subject matter and John McCain had to correct her in a subsequent interview with a former Bill Clinton employee (George Stephanopoulos) at ABC.  It wasn’t really that big a deal.  Obama has made conflicting comments between Obama at one event and Obama at another.

While we are on the subject of not helping, I understand why it is that Palin can possibly be a detriment to McCain because of her inexperience as a national candidate.

What is Biden’s excuse?

Biden just refuted Obama’s support of clean coal.

This guy has disputed and disagreed with Obama time and time again.  Any headlines?  Any tough questions of Obama about replacing Biden?

Not a chance.  The networks and their websites are all headlining gloom and doom bailout stories and the Tina Fey pot shots at Palin on NBC’s Saturday Night Live (SNL).  Not a word is spoken or written about the SNL Obama pot shots relating to corrupt Chicago politics and Tony Rezko.

I don’t care if they support Obama, just let the readers know where you stand and let them take their ”reports” with a grain of salt.

That leaved McCain to run these ads to make his point.

The networks are already doing half of Obama’s job for him.
